چکیده

The paper presents an effective algorithm for absolute phase (not simply modulo-2π) estimation from incomplete, noisy, and modulo-2π observations in interferometric aperture radar and sonar (InSAR/InSAS). The adopted framework is also representative of other applications such as optical interferometry, magnetic resonance imaging, and diffraction tomography. The Bayesian viewpoint is adopted; the observation density is 2π-periodic and accounts for the interferometric pair decorrelation and system noise; the a priori probability of the absolute phase is modelled by a Compound Gauss Markov random field (CGMRF) tailored to piecewise smooth absolute phase images. We propose an iterative scheme for the computation of the maximum a posteriori probability (MAP) phase estimate. Each iteration embodies a discrete optimization step (Z-step), implemented by network programming techniques, and an iterative conditional modes (ICM) step (π-step). Accordingly, the algorithm is termed ZπM, where the letter M stands for maximization. A set of experimental results, comparing the proposed algorithm with alternative approaches, illustrates the effectiveness of the proposed method. Sparse Multipass 3D SAR Imaging: Applications to the GOTCHA Data Set

Typically in SAR imaging, there is insufficient data to form well-resolved three-dimensional (3D) images using traditional Fourier image reconstruction; furthermore, scattering centers do not persist over wide-angles. In this work, we examine 3D non-coherent wide-angle imaging on the GOTCHA Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) data set; this data set consists of multipass complete circular aper...

Building Recognition Based on Airborne and Space Borne Insar Data

Because of its independence of time of day and its all weather capability, synthetic aperture radar (SAR) has become a key remote sensing technique in the last decades. In the past, spatial resolution of space borne SAR systems was rather coarse, so the exploitation of building signature and even the reconstruction of buildings in dense urban areas based on InSAR data was restricted to commerci...

Fast Reconstruction of SAR Images with Phase Error Using Sparse Representation

In the past years, a number of algorithms have been introduced for synthesis aperture radar (SAR) imaging. However, they all suffer from the same problem: The data size to process is considerably large. In recent years, compressive sensing and sparse representation of the signal in SAR has gained a significant research interest. This method offers the advantage of reducing the sampling rate, bu...

Joint Filtering of Sar Interferometric Phase and Amplitude Data in Urban Areas by Tv Minimization

This paper investigates the use of a popular regularization model, the Total Variation minimization (TV), to lter SAR interferometric images (amplitude and phase data). This model has been extensively used for its property of edge preservation and is therefore well adapted for urban areas. Using a TV model adapted to multi-dimensionnal data, we propose to do a joint ltering of phase and amplitu...
